Luka's story

Luka is a 6-month-old German Shepherd looking for a fresh start after finding himself in need of a new home due to unforeseen circumstances.

At just 6 months old, Luka is also at an age where many puppies begin entering a fear period, making new experiences feel especially overwhelming at times. Because of this, he needs patient, thoughtful introductions and a home committed to helping him build confidence at his own pace.

Despite everything, Luka is trying. Every single day.

Personality

Luka is a sweet, sensitive young boy who is naturally shy and timid when first meeting new people—especially men.

The best way to earn Luka’s trust is to give him space, avoid forcing interaction, and allow him to come to you on his own terms. Once he begins to feel safe, you can see his soft, loving personality start to shine through.

With patience, treats, and a calm approach, Luka steadily gained confidence during his walk—eventually walking nicely and comfortably accepting treats along the way.

He gets along well with cats, dogs, people, and kids, and he has all the potential to grow into an incredibly loyal companion with the right guidance and support.

Ideal home

Luka would thrive in a calm, patient home willing to continue his training, provide structure and reassurance, and help him navigate this important stage of development with consistency and kindness.

He is still very much a puppy and will need continued socialization, confidence-building, and positive experiences as he matures.

A quieter home with people who understand shy dogs and are willing to let Luka move at his own pace would help him flourish.
