Nixon's story
Sometimes, saving a life truly takes a village.
Nixon's journey to Charlie's Angels Rescue began when a kindhearted man named Don and his stepson spotted a terrified young dog desperately in need of help. Nixon had no collar, no microchip, and no apparent way to find his family. He was also limping and appeared to have a sore hip.
Determined to help, Don began searching for someone who could bring Nixon to safety. That's when an incredible group of people came together.
With the help of an experienced trapper named Julli, Nixon was safely captured and brought to Charlie's Angels Rescue. But his journey toward feeling safe was only beginning.
Nixon was terrified. He growled, barked, and wanted nothing to do with the unfamiliar people around him. He was also desperately hungry. When his rescuers discovered rocks and trash in his stool, it became heartbreakingly clear just how hard he'd been struggling to survive.
Rather than rushing him, everyone gave Nixon exactly what he needed most: food, patience, kindness, and space.
And slowly, something beautiful began to happen.
First came a little wag of his tail. Then he cautiously accepted treats from a hand. And before long, the frightened young dog who had been so afraid of everyone was offering kisses.
Perhaps the most wonderful part of Nixon's story is that Don and his wife, Patti – the very people who first stopped to help him – stepped forward to become his foster family.
Today, Nixon is doing wonderfully. He's safe, surrounded by love, and beginning to discover that the world isn't such a scary place after all.
Personality
Nixon is a sweet, affectionate young Belgian Malinois who is discovering just how wonderful life can be when you're surrounded by people who care.
Although he was initially frightened and unsure of everyone, he's already made remarkable progress. What began with cautious tail wags and accepting treats has blossomed into affectionate kisses and a growing willingness to trust.
At approximately one year old, Nixon is still a young dog with plenty of learning and growing ahead of him. As a Belgian Malinois, he's likely to possess the intelligence, athleticism, and working drive the breed is known for.
